Here you will find some interesting links to various items and topics which may be associated with certain BOINC projects ,or even links to the projects themselves.

 THE LHC at CERN :

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC)  sits in a circular tunnel 27 km in circumference. The tunnel is buried around 50 to 175 m. underground. It straddles the Swiss and French borders on the outskirts of Geneva. The purpose of the LHC is to smash protons moving at 99.999999% of the speed of light into each other and so recreate conditions a fraction of a second after the big bang. The LHC experiments try and work out what happened.

A large proportion of the design and theoretical testing for the LHC was done on one of the older BOINC projects going around - "LHC@home" - and whilst the LHC is now up and operational, the project still conducts research when needed, under the "6 Track" project*.
*See LHC@home in your BOINC manager to join this project.

Einstein@home discovers Pulsars !

Pulsars are rapidly spinning neutron stars that have formed during a supernovae. Their rapid rotation causes the emission from the poles to sweep across the line-of-sight to the Earth, creating a periodic flash. Although Einstein@Home users generally spend their time searching for gravity waves, a side project under the same umbrella has enabled a home computer to spot a rare pulsar in radio observatory data.

BOINCstats :

BOINCstats is a site whose name is self-explanatory and it is developed and maintained by "Boincstats Willy" (done free of charge, though any donations are VERY worthwhile and gratefully accepted for use/ purchase of hardware etc).
From this site, you can track EVERY aspect of your BOINC experience - if you set up an account (free of charge) you can have a wonderfully organised view of your total credits, then broken down into individual projects.
Each Project is also able to be viewed in detail, with tables/ charts showing your daily output, average credits and a myriad of other functions.
Most people who "crunch" (run BOINC) use BOINCstats as their tool-of-choice to measure their performance against their team, their country and the world.. and BOINCstats also provides you with a banner showing your details which you can attach to your profile in forums etc (see home page for our Teams BOINCstats table).
